We had an amazing first day driving around San Salvador, a few of the highlights included below:
-Our driver Saul picking us up at the hotel in a bullet proof car armed and ready to take us wherever we want. Muy amable!
-The beautiful lake view (Coatepeque) and lunch on a floating resturant called hotel del lago. We had tortillas w/ refried beans, fried pescadora, chx fajitas, and a few coronas of course! The corn tortialls here are not the normal type we are used to, they are very thick and delicious.
-A boat ride (Leslie was scared) around the lake touring all hidden weathly homes. PERFECTO!
-The finca which is what we know as a large estate on a farm. It's up in the hills with beautiful views and lush vegetation surrounding it. We got to play with the horsies including 20 day baby fowls and watch them skitter around the grounds barely able to stand. Leslies cousin Sally's husband raises Peruvian horses as a hobby and the finca is one of his favorite relaxation spots.
-After a quick nap back at the hotel, dinner at Sr. Tenador (Mr. Fork) with Leslie's cousin Ana.
-A surprise visit from Lipke and crew at the bar after dinner....those Hokies will find you anywhere. And finally, our night out to the clubs afterwards. Looking forward to day 2 at the beach today!

Sounds like a wonderful trip so far!
Bullet proof car???? Can't believe there are other Hokies around - I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you find a way to see the game tomorrow.
